Namiki, what is in your mouth...!?

Would you like to sing in Karaoke ? Let's try singing your favorite songs in English !

(sorry only Japanese . I will update this news in English in few hour....?)

See you next time !!

Let's say Echo Questions !

Thank you so much MaCCi teacher and everyone !

What did you eat for breakfast ?
What did I eat...? I ate rice , miso soup,...

"Echo Questions"
==> Repeat what the speaker said

Q= What is this? --> A= What is this / that ? ...
   Q= これはなんですか?  A: これは何って?...これは・・・です。

Q= What did you eat? --> A= Did I eat?
   Q=(あなたは)何を食べましたか?  A=(わたしは)何を食べた..?

ex) Q: What did you eat for breakfast?
....A: What did I eat ..?
.......I ate rice, miso soup, some eggs and salad.

Q: Where did you go yesterday ?
A: Where did I go...?

Q: Have you ever had (eaten , drank )
A: Have I ever had ...
...I have never eaten

* 先週: last weekend
* その前の先週:the weekend before last weekend
* ヒント:おとといは、the day before yesterday
***
See you next week!

Can you hear the conversation?? Are you up for challenge ?

18th Apr. 2016
Teacher : Macci
Participants: Shizu, Nobuko, Hiro, Namiki, Sam, Mocchan.
Special guest: Sherman
 Today's topic is let's try listening English.

------Start
A: Are you up for a challenge?
B: Yeah.
A: Let's try zero waste living for one (a) day.
B: OKey,that'll be fun.
C: How about switching paper towel to reusable rags.
B: I'll take a lunchbox instead of a brown paper bag.
A: I'll take a shopping bag to supermarket.
B: You will, Daddy?
A: Yes, thereis (there is) always first time.
C: Ah,that's the sprit. (Energy)
------- End

[ Are you up for a challenge? ]
be up for ~ = 〜を受けてくれますか?
ex) Are you up for Ramen ?
ex) Are you up for English lesson?

[ That'll be fun. ]
that will be fun

[ Let's try zero waste living for one (a) day. ]

[ I'll take a lunchbox instead of brown paper bags. ]
* brown paper bags

[ Switching paper towel to reusable rags. ]
* reusable rags(発音は、らぁぁぁぐす) = 再利用できるボロギレ

[ I'll take a shopping bag to supermarket. ]
* Daddy = dad = papa = father お父さん

[ You will, Daddy? ]

[ Yes, thereis (there is) always a first time. ]

[ That's sprit. (Energy) ]
= That's the sprit you want.

[ Are you up for a challenge? ]
* be up for ...(…
と訊くなら、限定する冠詞の "the" を使い "Are you up
for the challenge?"
[ It depends.
[ It depends (on the situation.) ]

[ Depend on you ] あなた次第です

ex) It's (a) waste of time.
ex) medical waste...

ex) waste money [time]...

* lazy....
ex) a lazy person...

* depend...

Next time is 25th April . See you!!

'What is "Bonsai 盆栽" ? Why is "Bonsai" such small? ' Can you answer the question ?

Can you explain? What is the Bonsai and why is the Bonsai so small?

***About Bonsai("盆栽"):

Hello, everyone.
Do you remember the contents on 4th Apr. when we had special guests who were Cat's family? We were asked what Bonsai is and why Bonsai is so small by Cat's papa. But nobody could answer the question clearly then. So MaCCi taught the answer to me from dictionary of Japanese culture. I'll report that on this blog. Read and study the explanation please.

What is "Bon-sai(盆栽)"? :==This meaning of Kanji(漢字) is "盆= tray; "栽= plant".
Bonsai is the traditional art of growing miniature plants and trees in a small container for viewing. The common bonsai trees are pine, cedar, maple and palm. They are stopped from growing bigger by regularly pruning the roots and branches. Some branches are tied and trained with wire to refine them into beautiful shapes. Although bonsai trees are raised artificially with great care, the most important thing in raising these trees is to make them look natural, not “mam-made”. The major purpose of bonsai is to recreate the beauty of nature in a pot.

*prune...

It was nice to Cat's family!
How is Japan? How is Aizu-region?

Teacher: MaCCi
Participants: Shizu, Sam, Hiro, Yuki, Namiki, Nobu-chan, Mocchan
Special guest Cat and Duc: papa, Oanh: mama; and Lan: aunt. All Cat's family from Arizona.
They are Vietnamese American, moved to USA about 35 years ago.
Cat was born in USA.

Let's introduce each other and enjoy conversation.

Sam is from Kitakata where is very famous as Ramen town next to Aizu-wakamatsu city. He recommended to enjoy Asa-ra (="朝ラー" Breakfast with Ramen) in there, especially Kiichi(喜一). It is very popular Ramen restaurant. The guests use to making long line. (queuing)

Nobu-chan asking about plan to visit during in Aizu. Cat made a plan to go to Tsurugajo-Castle, Nanoka-machi, Iimori-Mountain by walk tomorrow.
MaCCi recommend taking moving slope because it was 183 steps (1=i;8=ya;3=mi ...183=iyami="いやみ"). However when they love trekking with nice view.

Actuary their plan is Blind, Mute, Deaf. (mizaru(見ざる), iwazaru(言わざる), kikazaru(聞かざる)) they trust Cat makes nice schedule for them.

Shizu-chan recommended going to hot spring in Higashiyama(東山) or Ashinomaki(芦ノ牧). Of cause Cat had been reserved to stay there during their holidays.

Cat's family never tried hot spring, however they looked at the picture of monkeys in hot spring while snowing. It was so cute.

Papa is interested in Bon-Sai(盆栽).
He asked us, why it made so small?
............. Nobody could answer it clearly.
We have to study our Japanese culture more and more.

Mama thought Bon- Sai(盆栽) belongs to China because Chinese people sold it in USA.

We recommend Cat to escort them to Oyakuen(御薬園) as well. It is a typical Japanese style beautiful garden.
And we knew that Cat had been gotten a training about how to guide there.

She wished they could understand about shape of pond. It looks Kanji(漢字) of Kokoro- 心(means heart in Japanese).

Happy island
Large island

Papa had been opposed to study Japanese for cat.
He thought that other languages like Spanish or Chinese are much useful in her future.

But she disobeyed him.
So he gave her the condition that she had to keep the level A means top level in the first class. If she can clear it, papa allow to keep continue. Finally she has done. And the second year, she got a scholarship to go to Japan as exchange student for 6 months. Government USA took care of all the cost. So she was falling love with Japan. She well done. Papa said “I'm so proud of her.”

Check it up.

Do you like ~ing ? What do you like ?

28 March 2016
Teacher : Arron Burrow

1st step : Found out each other’s interests.
Do you like ~ ? Are you interested in ~ ?

“Why don’t we go to somewhere”`
Why don’t we
Can we go ~?
Where would you like to go ?

Neither = 否定する の使い方のおさらい。この表現聞いたことが無かったのですが・・・

For example
A: Do you like natto ?
B: No.
A: Me neither

A: Have you been swim in the river in Yanaizu(柳津)?
B: No, never.
A: Me neither.

looking forward to ~ ...
beech ...
primeval forest ...
Nocturnal ...
atmospheres ...
I have never been (there) ...
*By myself.
cherry blossom ...
visionary ...
Sunset = 夜   Sunrise= 朝
Finally ...

See you next time !

How to trouble shooting in English.

How to trouble shooting in English.

As per Yattun’s blog, he got some trouble because of different custom between Japan and oversea. For example deposit by credit card upon check in at Europe.

Today, we will discuss about our experience.

For Credit card ? You have to fill in your signature on the back side of credit card.
And have to remember your PIN coed.
In airport sign of ‘Baggage claim’

==========
As per Nobu chan’s experience,
She had been loosed baggage by air plane. According to Airline, her baggage went to a ship.
Airline guarantees all the cost of clothes etc until it will be back to her hand. However she has to pay first for
the cost and could be claim with recite.
It was so uncomfortable….

==========
Sam-san’s experience,
25th April 1915 in Australia, it was ceremony day for First World War. They call Anzac day. Lamented the death in
battle… that day some area attacked Japanese by throw eggs.

At bus station in America, so many pictures for missing, because kidnap.

Do not bring alarm clock in your suite case. I put it with power, therefore security doubt me that it was bomb and ask him to open the luggage.
He has another story about alarm clock, he sends his suits case by courier to airport in advance, but he forgot to turn off the timer. The timer rings out on time without Sam. So counter staff nothing to do until time has gone.

Word!!
Clock wise(時計周り) ? Counter clock wise (反時計回り)
********
Pick pocket ..... スリ
Pick luggage ...
